The crime rate in the USA has very little to do with human rights. Personal freedom may play a part in the high crime rate.
An authoritarian regime may produce a lower crime rate at the expense of personal liberty.
Freedom to travel the length and breadth of our great nation for each individual citizen is more important than setting up security checkpoints at the boundaries of each State.
The USA incarcerates one percent of its population for committing crimes which leaves the rest of the population free to pursue happiness and liberty. Those who violate the law are brought to justice.
